LPG Crisis Deepens — Government Acts
The ongoing Iran-US war has created a severe LPG shortage across India. The government has issued a controversial new directive: households with PNG (piped natural gas) connections must surrender their LPG cylinders and will no longer receive refills or new connections. Domestic LPG cylinders now retail at ₹913 in New Delhi following a recent ₹60 hike — adding to the financial burden on ordinary households.
Election Dates Announced — 5 States Go to Polls
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced today that Assam and Kerala vote on April 9, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on April 23, and West Bengal in two phases — April 23 and April 29 — with counting for all states on May 4, 2026.
